The" American Dream" and what it means to me.

In my opinion persons leaving their country to enter into America to live the "American Dream" has a mind based upon opportunity to achieve their goals. of course the American dream comes at no easy price, most persons can atest that they have had a small start but have worked their way up to their ideal standard of living the dream. Still the American dream itself is not only based upon what we can acquire (material results) but can be one of Values and Freedom, example- Freedom from inequality, racial abuse, violence and poverty for those who have experienced tragedies in their lives and around them.

Literary devices and their functions

Imagery-A tecnique in which the writer uses to create a mental image.

Symbol-Something used for or regarded as representing something else.

Irony- The opposite outcome of what is expected to happen.

Satire-The use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule or the like in exposing or denouncing vice or folly.

Motif - a reoccuring subject or theme.

Allusion- A casual or passing reference.

Stream of conscienceness- The characters personal thoughts and perceptions stated throughout the story with no particular structure.

Interior monolog- A form of Stream of conscienceness. Writing that represents the inner thoughts of the character.

Flashback-A look back at events prior to the present situation.

Foreshadowing- A glimse of what is about to happen before the actual event.

Brief Describtion on the life of Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was born in 1564, he was the third child and eldest son of John Shakespeare. He attended the Standard Grammar School at age 6-13 and enjoyed reading stories written by Latin authors.He married Anne Hathaway in 1582. She became pregnant at age 26. He was a playwright an actor and a poet, in 1602 he wrote Hamlet. In 1583 Anne had twins Judith and Hamnet.

Clear Light of Day- Baba's and Mira Masi Significance

Baba plays a significant role in the novel because being the youngest of four children and being mentally challenged, Bimla feels as if she is obligated to take care of him for the rest of her life when indeed she is the one who needs him. After Tara married, Raja went to Hyderbad and and Mira Masi died she felt that he was all she had left.

Mira Masi plays a significant role in the novel because she was the only mother figure that they had ever known, Tara was especially drawn to her. Their own mother wasn't a mother figure to them, she spent most of her time getting dressed up and going to the club.

Clear Light of day- Muslim vs Hindu

Within the book Clear Light of Day within the society of Muslims and Hindu's, to Raja Muslims were seen as more superior than Hindu's in terms of educational level/opportunity and their ways of living, his concept is based upon him observing the Hyder Ali's who are clearly muslims in comparison to his hindu household. Throughout the book it is seen that muslims embrace their culture and religion to a higher extent than hindus yet in india they were not safe and it was even more unsafe to be a helper/ lover of muslims. Within the book the hindu's always seem to have a hidden agenda concerning the affliction of the muslims and they would often put them into action.
In the murder of Mahatma Ghandi it would have been even more significant if a muslim murdered him since he was a religious icon for the hindu's.

King Lear- The Significance of the fool

The fool is one of the most outstanding characters within the play and his role is quite significant. Although he carries the tittle "fool" he has proven to be more aware of his surroundings and king Lear's flaw even more than the king himself. Although he spent most of his time being jovial and making a mockery of the king and his doings, he spoke clearly and ironically of how he saw circumstances and he seemed to be a constant companion and "reality check" for the king.

King lear- Reflection

King lear is the tired ruler of England, his plan to divide his kingdom between his two daughters and plans to leave his welfare in their hands leads to his humiliation. King lear who is expected to be a man of great wisdom power and wealth is stubborn, unwise and easily fallen to flattery. he was unable to see through Gonerils and Regans hollow words of love and could find no truth in what kent and cordelia spoke of. In dividing his kingdom he gave away the very things that made him king, he banished those that loved him truthfully and rewarded those who's love filled words proved empty. only after enduring multiple humiliation and betrayal is his eyes truly opened only to die soon after.
